Scholarship's interview (PESP)
Tuesday 22 May 2018 ? 0 words ?
Assalamualaikum

Firstly, I'm here not to brag about my achievements and scholarship applications. But since I've received my SPM result about last 2 months, I decided to apply most of the scholarships that were up on the websites. To clear things up, i just wanna pen down all the experiences here and if possible i want the juniors out there to benefit something from this post. I feel u guys ok; i need to google up everything when i had to attend the interviews just so i know the process.

So here is the list of interviews that i had attended :
1. Yayasan Tenaga Nasional (YTN)
2. Yayasan Khazanah Stage 1 and Stage 2
3. Petronas Education Sponsorship Programme (PESP)
4. MARA Young Development Programme (YDP)

5. JPA Tajaan 9A+
*please note that this one is similar to bursary programme and we dont have to attend any interviews. As long as we got minumum 9A+ then we are eligible to apply but we need to apply once we get any offer letter from the universities listed by JPA

__
Here we go; PESP interview

As stated above PESP stands for Petronas Education Sponsorship Programme. For those who have been shortlisted for PESP, you'll be invited to attend Petronas Youngstars Day (PYD). PYD is an assessment session for the shortlisted applicants. Yep, it's kinda different with other scholarship's interviews; petronas didnt use the word 'interview' but i swear that PYD is one of the best events i had attended! During my time, PYD was held at KDU college while the previous year it was held at Taylors.

Once we arrived, we were splitted up with our parents. The parents will listen a briefing regarding PESP (3 sessions of briefings) while we the students had to go to level 3 for registration.

Registration

They'll ask for your original documents and CTC documents (stated in their web before) and you'll get a tag with your lab number. You'll be seating with those who have the same lab number as yours. A moment that i treasure here; i have to sit with a group of Terengganu boys and there was just two of us, girls sepanjang line tu which was me sitting in the middle and another chinese girl dekat hujung. But those boys were just so nice and friendly, easy to get along! Oh we were also provided with a breakfast 🍴

After that we had a short briefing about PESP, an overview if we become Petronas' scholar etc.
Basically there are 2 assessments. Im sure it's just the same every single year. The first assessment is a computer test while the second one is group sharing session (another name for interview) i told ya they didnt use the word 'interview'

Assessment 1

We were assisted to the computer lab. Mine was Lab 6. There was approximately 20 students in each lab.
So for this stage you'll need to answer 2 types of test;
 1. Personality test - easy peasy lemon squeezy. You just have to be yourself!

2. IQ test (i cant remember the exact name of the test) - there's maths, english, logics and some sort of puzzles? Slightly like aptitude test upsr but for a higher level.
You can use calculator for this test.

Assessment 2

For assessment 2, only those who passed the computer test are eligible to go for this stage. During my time there were 204/259 passed the test. I think so.
We were provided with a lunch box each while waiting for the announcement of successful candidates in assessment 1.

There will be a slide at the front with successful candidates. Those who didn't make it will straightly go home.

We were divided into 2 big groups, A and B. Group A is for the first session (2pm-4pm) while group B is for the second session (4pm-6pm). Mine was group A , 17A if im not mistaken.

So we were asked to follow the facilitator to a hall downstairs. Once u get into the hall you will see a few rows of seat labelled with a number which is your group number. As i mentioned earlier mine was 17. So we formed a group of 5. Kebetulan 3 of us were from Kedah while another 2 were from Terengganu. Then, after we got to know each other a little bit, the faci(s) passed us two a4 papers and a question paper each. The question consisted of individual and group task. We were given around 20 minutes to jot down all the points (no discussion). Next, they'll call a group randomly to go downstairs for the iv . Bila turn group kitorang so we just followed the faci and entered the room. There were 2 panels in the room; a man and a woman both are working with petronas.

I forgot to mention our task. I couldnt remember the task specifically im so sorry.

Individual: they gave us a short article from newspaper regarding the overflow of graduates who didnt get any job offer. So the question is 'what do the graduates want from their future employer? And what can Petronas do to attract more graduates to work there?' some sort of this. So sorry i cant remember the exact question.

Group: ok for this task actually the question that we received in the room was spontaneous and it was different from the question paper yg facilitators distribute. The panels ask us how do we promote Petronas globally and make Petronas well known.

Ok so that's all regarding Petronas interview. Hope you guys can benefit something from this post !

Update: Alhamdulillah i was offered the scholarship!! I actually applied for chemical engineering course in UK but was offered for the local programme at UTP instead.

Assalamualaikum

Before i start, im gonna make it clear that i just made it to stage 2 out of 5 stages. So I'll just jot down my experiences from the application stage to stage 2. I'll try to get my friend who managed to proceed to the final stage.

Application stage

This stage is pretty generic and it's just the same like the other scholarship application except you will need to complete a 1000 words of essay including:

- A description of the intended area of study &  how this will benefit the country
- scholar aims to groom and develop future leaders who are determined to make a differ in the community/country, explain your plan to do so

- personal qualities that makes you a worthy recipient.

I suggest you to type the essay in a draft first as it is timed for about 15 mins. So later you will just need to copy and paste your essay in the application web.

When u write your essay, try to relate the field that u chose and how it will benefit malaysia. Look at the next 6-10 years how would the field you chose change in Malaysia. The effect, how you would react to that etc. On personal qualities, try to relate with khazanah. What kind of person that they are looking for; do some research and u will be ok.
One more thing. You also need to submit a resume.

Few days after the deadline, i received an email that i made it to the first stage.

First stage

Dear Fudhlaa Mohamad Sharofi

Congratulations, you have been invited to undertake the following assessment(s)for Stage 1:

Logiks Numerical (Advanced)
Logiks Verbal (Advanced)

Logiks numerical is just like basic maths (spm level) but it isn't that easy as we have time restrictions. 30 mins i think?
For logiks verbal there's like 12 short comprehension texts and 30+ questions based on the text. Wallahi i had not enough time especially for the verbal one. Just baca the text sekali lalu and chose the answer.

Tips: do practice! There's a few sample questions for both numerical and verbal logiks. Calm down and take some time between the two tests. Get ready with a calculator and papers unless you are genius so u dont have to use them.

Second stage

Few days after that i was notified that i made it to stage 2. LMAO i never thought i would pass stage 1.

Dear Fudhlaa Mohamad Sharofi

Congratulations, you have been invited to undertake the following assessment(s)for Stage 2:

Cubiks Team Role Questionnaire
Khazanah Cultural Reasoning Inventory (CRI)
PAPI 3 N

There is another test which is graphite test. YES! I totally have no idea about both Cubiks and graphite. Seems scary right? But no worries guys, both are just personalities assessments.

But please dont take these tests lightly. Your responses will reflect what kind of person you are. There's no specific preparation for stage 2. You just have to be true to yourself and be honest. These assessments will test your consistency in answering the questions. If you can't proceed to the next stage means your personalities are just not fit with khazanah. Better things are waiting perhaps?

Dear FUDHLAA BINTI MOHAMAD SHAROFI,

We wish to thank you for your interest in our Khazanah Scholarship Programme.

We acknowledge that you have made it to the online assessment of the selection process.

Please be informed that we have a strong field of candidates this year and the competition for the scholarships is also very strong.

Regretfully, based on your result of the assessment, we will not pursue your candidacy for the above scholarship any further.

We wish you every success in your future undertakings.

Thank you.

Here we go; YTN interview

Basically YTN was the first interview that i attend to. The interview took place at UNITEN itself. For this scholarship i actually applied for electrical power engineering (oversea) but was offered another programme which is Digital Innovation and IT Management.

There was 2 sessions of interview; morning session and evening session. Mine was the second one. It was from 2pm-5pm if im not mistaken (i finished earlier). I arrived there at 11am (yes way too early) but i got nowhere to go after my touch down at KLIA that morning.

After performing our zuhr prayer then we proceed to the registration counter and pass them the documents that they've asked for. They'll later give us a sticker with our numbers there.

Then we had to do a computer test. It was just about ourself. Some sort of psychometric and personality test. So just answer them honestly.  After completing our computer test we were asked to go to the waiting room at level 2.

We were all separated by the courses. So basically the interview was according to the course (eg: for IT course i got an A38 sticker, so those with A sticker were with me as well for IT). Btw it was an individual interview. There will be just you and the 2/3 panels in the room (mine was 2 panels). I was just informed that my session was the last one for overseas programme as they had started the interview since 3 days ago. So masa session i there was just 3 of us untuk course digital innovation and IT management.

When it comes to my turn, i was asked a lil bit about myself, family background, achievements in school, why did i choose ytn etc. The panel also did ask me about the meaning of an innovation  and some examples. So do some researchs about your course guys! Oh and the interview was in mixed language, english and bm.

Some tips : if the panels provoked you with some provocative questions, sit back and relax. Just control your emotion and your face reaction. Answer them nicely. Some of us were provoked with various kinds of statements and questions.

That's all about ytn interview and we were allowed to go back once we're done with the interview session. Dont forget to make some friends! I regret as i only managed to talk to few people there and forgot to exchange our numbers. Go socialise yourself guys.

Once i finished with my interview, i booked a grabcar and rushed to KLIA2. I even managed to go shopping there😎😎 what's better than having your father who offered to treat you?

Assalamualaikum

Last two days, i was just lazing around on the couch watching the news on the tv. It was a record for me as it has been the longest hour of me myself duduk depan tv untuk tengok berita. Yes, it was a news guys not a movie. I think it has been approximately more than 12 hours of me watching the news😂 waiting for the result of GE14 until around 4am. The next morning woke up to watch the sworn in ceremony but they stated that no sworn in ceremony will take place on that day. But then they said the ceremony will be at 5 pm so i waited again and it was delayed to 9.30 pm.

Tired of waiting, i decided to go to Tesco for some groceries shopping after maghrib (while waiting for the sworn in ceremony of our new prime minister). It was raining heavily. So when i got out from the car, i was trying to prevent myself from stepping in the water puddle. So i just jumped.....and mislanded with my left leg. I literally fell down at the parking lot! I was just hoping that takdak sapa nampak i hampir terlentang. I tried to get up and walk but i couldnt move my left leg. So i just tunggu dalam kereta while the others go buy their things. Then baru perasan kaki dah macam bengkak jadi pergila klinik. The doctor then told me that i had just sprained my ankle. Tapi yg paling sedih i tak sempat tengok live upacara angkat sumpah 😢 and i just noticed that my screen protector was cracked sbb jatuh td time pegang phone. Ok double grief news for me. If i happen to change my screen protector once again, then this will be the 4th time of me changing it. Padahal pakai phone tak sampai 5 months lagi. Why so careless girl😭😭

Assalamualaikum

Typing this with a mixed of feelings phew. Ketaqqq cek oi! So it has been confirmed that the spm result 2017 will be out on 15 March 2018 gosh. Suddenly all the answers to the exam questions started flashing through.

The night before 15/3
Dayummm i couldnt stop myself from worrying and flashing back all the answers i wrote on the exam papers. Tetiba je boleh ingat balik kan jawapan 3 bulan yg lalu.

Solat magrib berjemaah and i cried. Aiyo this girl always cry when it comes to listening to my parents' advices. Tisu betul!

Malam tu before i went to bed, i dah type sesiap ic and angka giliran and put on draft message sbb nak terus send pukul 10 pagi esok. My first time nak check result guna message.

15/3
My heart just skipped some beats. I arrived at school at 8.00 am so early cause we wanted to recite yassin, solat hajat and dhuha first with the whole batch.

Tak sekarang ni kenapa aku nampak mcm cikgu korang?!

Ambil gambar dgn mana yg ada ja. Lek lek dulu before result
Some of us (inc me) decided to meet the teachers and salam2 mohon restu.
"oh hampa saja salam awai sbb takmau jumpa cikgu dah lepas result."
Yes, indeed. We even got the chance join cikgu dekat blok putera gossip about spm rumours 😂 expert enough to blend in dgn cikgu2 punya discussion topics.

Result announcement
9.50 am. Told my friend ghah to alert me once it is  9.58 am.
9.58 am; open the draft message and getting ready to send the message.
Mom also joined us to send the text. She got my angka giliran from the spm schedule that i pasted on the refrigerator lol.
At exactly 10.00 am i pushed the send button. Lock the screen. Put my phone away. Of course i am not gonna check my result through sms. It will just faded the excitement away.

The notification sound hits.
"ma, i think i already received the sms"
"why i didnt get the sms pun. Let me see your phone"
I gave my phone to mum as she was so eager to know but i reminded her not to tell me anything bout the sms. Mum just congratulated me and told me that Allah akan bagi setimpal dgn usaha kita. I cried lol. I was thinking that i wont get straight As.

Time tu my friends were still waiting sbb they check through the online system. Illi came and told us dia takdapat straight As but she got 7 A+ weh i literally freaked out! Tetiba 2 of my close friends nangis teruk after the online result came out, telling us that their result was bad. Weh both of them are the top scorer kot! I joined them crying as well. Again. Dasar tisu! Haih nak buat mcm mana i have a soft spot for everyone especially my loved ones. Orang sedih i pun tumpang sedih sekali.

Of course sempat selfie. We need to seize this moment k.
Result announcement was a bit late sbb nak kena tunggu analisis etc and i still didnt check my phone. When pengetua came in and berucap kat depan only the anxiety started to kicked in back. Time tu i was just scrolling instagram and ustaz zahid and teacher norliza whatsapp cakap tahniah. Curious.

Masa tunggu result mestila nangis lagi. Saja ja nangis banyak2 sbb nak cuci mata lol no i just cant control myself bila mama provoke 'kena bersyukur kalau Allah bagi setakat tu ja'.

But praise to Allah. Alhamdulillah i was feeling so content when i heard cg zaiton mentioned my result in her speech.

A photo with my fam and the principal, cikgu zaiton
Cc: KFV MMAS

Congrats everyone!  Im hella proud of u guys, of us.
We proved em that MMAS can ace in spm as well and duduk sama rendah berdiri sama tinggi dengan other high prestigious school, sbp, mrsm etc. Im gonna brag about the success of batch 2000 maahad to my future kids lol.

5 years of togetherness ❤
Tak cukup quorum.

Can never get a good, free-from-photobomb picture in front of dewan sultan badlishah. Sigh.

Ustaz Zahid who always come out with various ideas for us to score syariah

Cikgu Jamilah, Cikgu Hamidah and Cikgu Yate.
Time ni there was a group of putera as well (geng top scorer ah). Cikgu Yate told me to exchange my addmaths grade with the boys as there were only 3 of them who achieved that freaking A+ in addmaths gila la mcm mana korang study weh

Sir Hanif. Sir yang paling deep teruk. Semua yg sir cakap menusuk dalam hati

So here you go. My result

Alhamdulillah
Screw out the different outfit from other photos

Already did my appreciation posts on instagram for everyone. Overall, congratulations to everyone , the '00 liners. You guys rock! Goodluck for your future peeps

Assalamualaikum

As me and my kepochi makciks haven't meet each other for quite a time and dah lama berangan nak makan ala ala picnic by the lake, so kitorang decide utk organise a small picnic for just 8 of us. Kitorang buat pot luck 😍 and i made a shepherd pie for us.

Oh and about the cake. These girls just surprised us (me, ghah and all; february & march babies awh). At first, masa dah set up semua tetiba je ain cakap she left her bag in the car and illi offered to accompany her there as we parked the car kinda far. Time tu yg lain pun jadi extras marah2 ain sbb bahaya tinggal beg dlm kereta. Suddenly, they came with a box of secret recipe cake while singing happy birthday. You girls really made my day la😂😂

Sembang ghempang macam tak jumpa setahun

Port picnic next to construction site and not by the lake bcs we cannot stand the heat

___

I had my second picnic (some sort of reunion) with my primary classmates here as well. God bless me. Free food once again yumms.

But this time i didnt cook sbb time buat picnic ni on weekday. I takda kereta lagi so my father had to send me and off to work.
Finally we got the chance to reunite even though it wasnt even the half of the class. The event was so lit. I thought there would be an awkward silence but nah we were just so excited seeing each other and cant stop talking lmao.

Thank you mek cah, anak taukey secret recipe for sponsoring the cake.

Omnomnom

Mekcah suruh cover muka

Thank youu everyoneeee. Goodluck utk spm result and your future ❤❤

They said last minute plan is always the best. We actually was just joking to pay a visit to our previous primary school, SK TAMAN UDA but it turned out to be real visit lol. After freaking 5 years leaving SKTU 😢

precious school!!!!!!

Used to be punished here; kena lari( we actually walk) satu padang bcs we didnt attend kelas J-Qaf and bestari solat on saturday. Masa i tak pergi la tetiba nak kena denda 😂
Ustaz Hishamuddin and Cikgu Zammiza❤

Cikgu Rohmah. Yang kedua paling kitorang takut after teacher Zahara. I even used to get a punishment from cikgu. Lol banyak jugak kena denda

With our music teacher, cikgu shukri.

Teacher Anisa Banu

The science teachers, Cikgu Rohmah and Cikgu Wan. Cikgu wan told us to kawin cepat2 . What?!

Cikgu Normala, our class teacher during standard 6 and cikgu Jamilah.
We were just way tooo excited to be back in this class. 6 DEDIKASI ❤

Our ustazah yg awet muda

Just got our 2012 school magazine😂
We brought along these 2 guys with us😒

As it was a last minute plan, so it was just 7 of us (including the 2 guys)

It was fun to be back here. Reminiscing all the memories and stupid actions that had been done.
